A microphone system for a Theorbo? Ischell...

An instrument that you don't see every day, the theorbo or teorb, is a plucked string instrument - a kind of large lute - created in Italy at the end of the XNUMXth century. In the XNUMXth century, the evolution of the theorbo followed two paths: the Roman theorbo, also called chitarrone, and the Padua theorbo.

The theorbo was used both for basso continuo and as a solo instrument. It was also used for singing accompaniment. In the XNUMXth century, France, we mainly used the accompanying theorbo, a very imposing instrument. Theorbos disappeared during the XNUMXth century, before reappearing in the XNUMXth century with the revival of the interpretation of early music on period instruments.

A system Ischell 2X48+ ACPJ with contact microphone + aerial has been installed on it with excellent results.

The contact microphone perfectly reflects the acoustics of the instrument with a warm and balanced sound, it represents the basis of the system with its ease of use on stage.

The air brings extra air to the sound and pure acoustics that can be dosed into the mix to be on top in all situations.
