I regularly use the Ischel APJ microphone and its preamp 1X48 in live concert to amplify a flamenco guitar while playing with a bassist, and it is the best solution I found so far. Tea 1X48 output goes into a reverb pedal, and then goes into my amp, or a DI before going into a mix table.
The sound:
– is clear, precise and powerful: the nails and nails are well rendered without being over present, all the spectrum is represented with balance. Much better than my previous piezo mics
– highly resistant to feedback compared to other aerial mics
It is also a very practical solution:
– easy to fix it to any guitar without any wood drilling thanks to adhesive surfaces (I changed it easily from one guitar to another)
– you can easily move your body without altering the sound
– plug-and-play: almost no EQ work to do, on my side
– discreet appearance
